Workshop Sessions & Participants

The Value Analysis (VA) job plan is organized with the following sessions:
1/2-Day Pre-Workshop Planning Session (U.S. COST Facilitator and Hospital Executives only)

  • Identify objectives, select participants, review agenda, determine location, identify revenue data required

3-Day Pre-Study Orientation Sessions

  • Kick-off and Hospital Tour (1 day)
  • Current Work Processes Reviewed (2 days)

5-Day Value Analysis Workshop

  • Areas of Opportunity Outlined
  • Creative Idea Phase
  • Evaluation/Analysis of Ideas
  • Development of Proposals
  • Presentation of Proposals

1/2-Day Post-Workshop Implementation Meeting

  • Document final decisions on change proposals and identify initiatives requiring committees

In preparation of a Value Analysis, your team should provide basic revenue data and the organizational arrangement of your office for review prior to convening.
Workshop Participants within the organization include:

  • 15-20 hospital personnel in revenue-impacting positions

US Cost consulting participants include:

  • 2-3 specialists with expertise in healthcare revenue, managed care revenue, and hospital IT systems*

*Experts in other areas can also be substituted or added if a hospital identifies issues in a particular area that they wish to resolve.
