RIB AG (RSTA) signs iTWO Phase III Deal with Miami International Airport

Atlanta, GA, USA, 22 May 2014. MDAD manages the county’s aviation business at Miami International Airport (MIA) and five (5) auxiliary airports. At MIA, total passenger count is nearly 40 million, fifty percent of which are international passengers. MIA is the 2nd busiest in the U.S. for international travel and was recently ranked 10th among America’s Best Airports. The Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners (BCC) adopted a Master Plan for MIA in 1994 that is the basis of the current Capital Improvements Program (CIP).The total value of the CIP has fluctuated over the years to reflect demand and financial capacity changes. The current amount approved by the BCC is $6.4 Billion, not including a list of projects to be implemented in the future based on demand and affordability. The CIP is one of the largest expansion and redevelopment programs that exist at an operational airport. The Strategic Master Planning Study for 2015-2050 is a phased-approach study that is expected to be completed later this year.
RIB’s 5D Big Data Technology and New Thinking and New Working Methods will be utilized by the MDAD Project Controls team. The iTWO virtual to physical platform will provide MDAD the ability to establish, validate, and control reliable budgets for their CIP portfolio.
Regarding this Phase III deal to provide a technology platform to the Miami-Dade Aviation Department for their capital programs, Charles Aguirre, CEO of the RIB U.S. Region says “RIB is very excited to have been selected for this order to provide iTWO technology and expertise to the Miami International Airport. The new methods and new technology will enable all stakeholders to collaborate using the iTWO platform to better plan, execute and manage their projects that are part of the 2015-2025 Master Plan.”
