U.S. COST specializes in facilitating workshops that improve processes, identify areas of opportunity, and seek alternative solutions to provide optimal organizational performance and efficiency. U.S. COST has facilitated several recent Value Analysis (VA) studies on Hospital Revenue Improvements. These workshops have assembled current hospital staff as well as industry specialists on the healthcare revenue cycle and hospital IT systems. The results of these studies have been tremendous with ROI's of approximately 100:1.

Length of Workshop
U.S. COST Healthcare Revenue Cycle Workshops typically consist of a 3-day Orientation Meeting and a 5-Day Workshop week. These workshops evaluate all areas of the revenue chain from intake/registration to receipt and posting of payments. The sessions can be adjusted should the Hospital desire to limit the scope to only specific areas of the Revenue chain. For more information on the workshop sessions please click here.
Workshop Participants
One of the ideals of the Value Analysis process is that the staff closest to the business lines being studied can provide the best insight into the current situation and areas of opportunity. Thus, the participation of key Hospital staff is necessary to identify those processes or services that provide the greatest opportunities and, most importantly, what obstacles must be overcome to improve or increase these services (staff, space, specialty equipment, skillsets, training). Participation by current staff in Registration, Admitting, Financial Counseling, Cashiers, Billing, Accounts Receivable, Finance, IT, Clinicians, and others, are ideal in ensuring a successful workshop.
Also participating as part of the workshop team will be 2 or 3 outside consultants with experience in these types of healthcare consulting assignments. These consultant team members provide input as to how other healthcare organizations have implemented similar strategies within their organizations.
Benefits of U.S. Cost Healthcare VA Workshops
U.S. COST has witnessed both tremendous revenue gains by the hospitals and, through involvement of hospital staff as members of the workshop team, has observed team building resulting from personnel participation. Revenue gains have been measured in the range of $10 to $40 million for each of the Hospitals that we’ve conducted these workshops. For a Case Study of a workshop that outlines typical results download the white paper on the right side of this page. For additional specifics on the workshop sessions and techniques click here.
This workshop approach is unique and especially attractive to many organizations in that the efforts are confined to an 8-day period, rather than having consultants on-site for weeks or months on a long-term engagement. This unique approach has been shown to be very successful in identifying enhancements to Hospital revenue-impacting areas, and U.S. COST would welcome the opportunity to discuss how we can assist your healthcare organization – please contact Tom Orr of U.S. Cost at (770)481-1638, or via e-mail at va@uscost.com.
